TIME WARP TRIO:: PROFILES OF AWESOME PEOPLE IN HISTORY

Purpose: There are some incredible people who shaped our history. Well, today we are going to explore Thomas Alva Edison.

INSTRUCTIONS/JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT:

Main idea is when you discover the main meaning behind what you read. These short biographies tell you about the main idea of someone's life! Thomas Alva Edison, for example, had several inventions.

I am going to send you on an adventure today. Begin your journal entry.

1. We are going to meet Thomas Alva Edison. Edison lived in the late 1800s and early 1900s. What was his "claim to fame"? What were a few of his greatest accomplishments?

2. Thomas Edison was "brilliant at developing and marketing ideas and bringing them to a wide audience." If you could invent anything for the public, what would it be? Explain why this invention would benefit many people.

3. Thomas Edison was called the "Wizard of Menlo Park". When someone is called a "wizard", it means he or she intelligent. Explain why Thomas Alva Edison may have earned this title.

4. Thomas Edison was always going around, thinking of new and interesting ideas that would help people out. Imagine spending a day with him. What are two questions you think you would ask him [about his inventions]?
