Purpose: Read a Swahili (African) folktale.

Instructions: Visit this website to read a Swahili folktale. Read it and remember it because the main character will be put up to three challenges and you will have to help him out.

JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT:

  • 1. After reading and completing the activity, write five events that occur in this story in order.
  • 2. What are the challenges that the main character faced? Describe at least one in detail.
  • 3. Describe what Prince Sadaka was like. What are some words that were used in the story to describe him? Use details from the story to support your answer.
  • 4. What was Prince Sadaka not good at?
  • 5. What were the djnns like? Describe them in 1-3 sentences.
