VIDEO:: CAVES

Purpose: Watch a 6-minute video about two sisters exploring a cave and write about what you would think it would be like to experience a cave expedition in their shoes.

JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT:

First, answer a few questions [it would be wise to read these questions before and after the video]:

1. Why did the girls go in this specific cave in the first place?

2. The narrator introduces speleotherms, stalactites, and stalagmites. What is the difference between a stalactite and stalagmite?

3. Why is water so important when it comes to caves?

4. How did the conditions change between the three rooms in the cave?

5. What are three questions you would have if you were to explore the cave? The questions don't need answers... so be curious!

Would you ever explore a cave if you had the opportunity? Explain why or why not, using information from the article to support your answer.
